How do I recoup an advance from beatBread?

beatBread's mission is to empower artists so that they can own their art and control their careers. It provides independent and unsigned artists with financial advances that are repaid through a limited share of revenues from streaming and airplay, over a period of the artist’s choosing.

So, what is a recoupment rate? What does it have to do with my beatBread deal?

Recoup, or recoupment, means to pay back the advance you’ve received. With beatBread, this is done through a share of your streaming income as the “recoupment rate.”

You can find your recoupment rate on the customize funding page of your account. The percentage you see is the amount of your earnings that goes towards paying back your advance. Remember, you only payback your advance through your digital distribution earnings. You don’t pay it back out of pocket like a bank loan and you hold on to all your income from physical music, publishing, synch, live events and merchandise sales.
